Youth mental well-being and resilience through team sports and coach training
MINDPLAY empowers youth well-being through team sports by training coaches to detect and address mental health issues. By combining inclusive volleyball-based activities, targeted mental health education, and accessible digital tools, the project equips mentors and young people—especially those from marginalized contexts—with the resources to overcome anxiety, isolation, and emotional distress in a supportive team environment.
Key Objectives
Train Coaches to Support Mental Health
Provide sport coaches and mentos with the tools and skills to detect early signs of mental health issues (anxiety, self-harm, depression) in young people
Use team sports as a tool for healing
Promote sports like volleyball and other team sports as accessible, inclusive means to foster emotional resilience, social connection, and mental well-being among youth.
Empower Marginalized Young People
Create a safe, supportive hub where young people (especially from marginalized backgrounds) can connect, share experiences, and develop social and emotional skills.
Develop a Multilingual Training Program and Toolkit
Design, pilot, and disseminate a practical training curriculum and digital toolkit to support mental well-being through sport, accessible in multiple languages and open to all.
Raise Awareness Across Europe
Raise awareness at local and European levels about the link between sports and mental health, encouraging replication of the project model in other communities.
Kogui Hub contributes significantly to the MINDPLAY project by leading the development of the Mental Well-Being Toolkit and actively defining the training programme for sports coaches. With solid experience in non-formal education, emotional intelligence and supporting marginalized communities, Kogui Hub ensures that all educational resources are practical, culturally sensitive and accessible in multiple languages. Kogui Hub plays a key role in providing mentors and coaches with the tools they need to promote mental well-being among young people through sport.
Prioritizing mental health is not a sign of weakness, but a commitment to living a life of strength and well-being.
